Game of Thrones was experienced in many different forms over the course of its long and successful run. Most fans watched the show on HBO on Sunday nights, although the streaming revolution took off towards the end of its run, leading many fans to watch the show online on HBO’s streaming service. Due to its popularity, Game of Thrones was the most pirated show on television for most of its run.

HBO Max has been the (legal) place to watch Game of Thrones since its launch in 2020. But now, the series has had a high-profile release that has nothing to do with any HBO streaming platform.

Vudu has announced the release of Game of Thrones for digital download in 4K. The entire series is available to download for $99.99. Individual seasons are also offered. It will cost $24.99 to download each of the first six seasons, and the final two, which have fewer episodes, will go for $19.99 each.

Per ComicBook.com, it’s the first time that Game of Thrones’ entire run has been offered for digital purchase in 4K. Vudu is also the exclusive 4K provider for Yellowstone, the Kevin Costner series that’s the most popular show on cable.

The Next Series

While Game of Thrones ended nearly three years ago, HBO is currently working on at least one spinoff. House of the Dragon is set to arrive on HBO channels this year, although it’s not clear exactly when it will arrive.

George R. R. Martin, the creator of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” source material, recently published a blog post about the new series, which has now wrapped up filming.

“HOUSE OF THE DRAGON has a great pair of showrunners in Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik,” Martin wrote. “And it has an amazing cast as well. You’ve been reading about them for months. Matt Smith, Emma d’Arcy, Milly Alcock, Olivia Cooke, Paddy Considine, Emily Carey, Rhys Ifans, Steve Touissant, Fabien Frankel, and more, and more. You may not know their names now, but I think you will before the year ends. You will hate some of them, love some of them, mourn for some of them.”

The new series is based on Fire & Blood, another Martin book that’s set about two centuries prior to the start of the regular Game of Thrones series.
