LG’s 77-Inch C9 OLED Beauty Is Now $500 Cheaper
Is it time to pull the trigger?
If you’re an OLED fan and you’ve always envied those much more affordable monster screens of QLEDs and other LCD-based HDTVs, you may have just caught a break.
It’s still not cheap by any means, but LG’s 77-inch C9 OLED can be yours right now for $4,500, which is $500 less than what it was retailing for just a few months ago.
In the often-cutthroat high-end HDTV war, the Korean company’s OLED technology is more often than not considered the best in the world, and it has proven on an annual basis why it should be the standard for all OLED TVs out on the market.
The 77-inch C9 features one of the best image qualities ever tested on a TV. It delivers perfect deep black levels, precise colors, unmatched wide-viewing angles and outstanding uniformity. Even if your living room is sun-drenched on those hot, summer afternoons, this TV’s brightness level should take care of any annoying glares and reflections.
The C9 also boasts the much-coveted HDMI 2.1 features—including eARC—and comes with support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple AirPlay 2. The remote control also lets you speak to, and hear from, those voice assistants. The webOS smart TV operating system is fluid and mostly user-friendly as well, so getting to your favorite streaming app or on-demand content will surely be a snap for family movie nights.
Because of the much-praised organic light-emitting diode technology, there is no backlighting to be found, so the overall design is sleek and slim—in fact, the C9 is thinner than many smartphones out there.
As with most TVs that feature super-slim designs, the speakers are usually a conspicuous weak point. Although LG’s speakers are OK for everyday casual TV-watching, you should really invest in a decent soundbar to bring out that immersive, cinematic experience when watching sports and action-heavy movies. The stand looks sturdy and quite nice as well, with its angled edges and medium width across the bottom of the screen.
Another great aspect of the C9 is that it boasts superb variable refresh rate and extremely low input lag, which will surely come in handy for hardcore gamers out there. Considering that many are waiting patiently to get their hands on the next-gen PlayStation and Xbox, these are wonderful future-proof features to have. Plus, keep in mind that you’ll be saving big money in the long run by not having to purchase a dedicated monitor for your gaming needs.
