North Korea tested a new ballistic missile — the Hwasong-12 — early Sunday morning.

The missile, which Pyongyang praised as “a perfect weapon system,” is a medium long-range missile, according to North Korean media. It appears to be the longest range missile the North has tested to date. The missile’s range is somewhere between the unreliable Musudan (Hwasong-10) and the intercontinental ballistic missile North Korea is developing but has yet to test.

Choson TV released a video of its new weapon, which could potentially threaten U.S. forces in Guam. North Korea warned the U.S. that its “Pacific operation region are in range for strike.”

The missile was fired from Kusong, a location to the northwest of the capital city of Pyongyang. It soared to an altitude of 1,312 miles and flew roughly 430 miles.

The new weapon was designed to carry a larger warhead, as well as increase the number of missiles in Kim Jong Un’s arsenal that are capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
