Georgia’s Republican Senate nominee Herschel Walker fired back at Barack Obama, on Fox News Wednesday, after the former president contended late last week that being a standout football player doesn’t mean that Walker will make a good lawmaker, the Guardian reported.

“He forgot to tell people I created one of the largest minority-owned food service companies in the United States of America, so I do sign the front of a check, which he’s probably never done except when he was in the White House,” the former NFL All-Pro, who is running against incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA), said on Fox & Friends.

“I created businesses, I sit on a public traded board. So those are things I’ve done outside of football. Put my resume against his resume—I put it up any time of the day and I think I’ve done well,” he continued.

During a speech inside the Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, on Friday night, Obama described Walker as “a celebrity that wants to be a politician.”

“Some of you may not remember, but Herschel Walker was a heck of a football player,” Obama continued. “But here’s the question: Does that make him the best person to represent you in the U.S. Senate? Does that make him equipped to weigh in on the critical decisions about our economy and our foreign policy and our future?”

Walker’s entry into politics has been anything but smooth, as two women have publicly come forward to allege that he was involved in their abortions. In early October, a Daily Beast report accused Walker of allegedly paying for a former girlfriend’s abortion in 2009. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous due to privacy concerns, supported her claim with a receipt from an abortion clinic and a bank deposit receipt showing that Walker reimbursed her $700 for the procedure. The news outlet also reported that the same woman is the mother of one of Walker’s children.

Then last week, a second woman, referred to as Jane Doe to protect her identity, claimed during a press conference that Walker had “pressured” her into getting an abortion after she learned she was pregnant in April 1993.

“I do not believe that Herschel is morally fit to be a U.S. senator and that is the reason why I am speaking up and providing proof,” she said. “We don’t need people in the U.S. senate who profess one thing and do another. Herschel Walker says he is against women having abortions, but he pressured me to have one.”

When asked about the spate of recent controversies surrounding his campaign, Walker told Fox News that he will “keep going forward.”

“Right now, they’re going to try to throw everything at me,” he said. “They spent almost $100 million so far against me. Right now, the race is virtually tied or I’m in the lead which shows that they don’t know how to spend their own money, so quit spending our money.”
